Buy My Stuff Now… Or How to write a killer ad!

I am now continuing with part two in how to write yourself a killer sales ad.

You need to choose a single benefit/value you wish to showcase above everything else in your ad. This is your Principle Selling Position. You need to ask yourself what specific benefit/value makes your product or service better, stand out, or special then highlight it.

Examples:

  • Cost?
  • Convenience?
  • Reliability?
  • Uniqueness?

Write with a natural style. Don’t try to put on airs or puff yourself up. Just write the way you’d explain your opportunity/product or service to someone in the room.

Understand who your customer is and why you are saying what you are. What tone are you trying to convey: light hearted, serious, educational or professional? What level of language are you going to employ? Suit your terminology to your intended audience.

The finial push, of why they should chose to use your product/services, when it comes, must include three integral parts:

  • It must incorporate a good deal; like a reduced price or two for ones etc”
  • It must be urgent; e.g. “only the first 100 responders, or three days left!” (but only if that applies) do not place false call to actions in your ad.
  • It must be risk free; e.g. “Backed by a no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee!”

The very last line in your ad should be to tell the reader to take ACTION! Call, email or “Click here NOW! And ordering details must be clearly visible and simple to follow.

Good advertising involves manipulating the emotions of people. If you can make an emotional connection you, will make the sale. But you have to hit potential customers triggers by convincing them that they want to buy your product or service, and they want to do it now. Include a sense of urgency!!!!

Take action now order now! But do not make false claims like “only 30 days left” “just a week at this price” “only at this price for a short time” IF it is not true, as you want to build positive trust with people and if you are still running your three day only add a week later- and someone who sees it again who did before, do you think they will EVER be interested in doing business with you? Would you trust a company like that?

So use the tools provided in Part One and Part two of writing a sales ad, as well as use your own ethics and values to determine what content you choose. However most importantly become your customer and read what you write see if you want to do business with you, are you trust worthy, realistic, fair? Following self check guidelines will keep your reputation clean, your customers happy and you out of legal trouble by offering more than you provide or false statements on quality, timelines and guarantees. Because being a well respected business is based on how you operate and that includes how you advertise.
