Checking for fit in Network Marketing
Like a lot of things on this blog this article is going to be a bit different than what you are hearing out there or online as far as the information I share and things I believe are important in both finding the right match for you in the businesses you start or partner with as there is in how you should conduct that business.
Now for those that are looking for information on starting a home business and doing their homework on certain companies First: GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Pat yourself on the back, too many fail to undertake this IMPORTANT first step.
This blog post is for you. BUT it is also for anyone who is not feeling the love, or thinks they are forcing those pieces together to make a match in the company they are currently with.
As you need to feel comfortable with the company you choose, how they do business, how they want you to do business and the products services you will market.
My job here is to help you do just that, as if you were a member of our team or we were interviewing you as a potential partner- the very last question we tell our teams to ask before a new person joins us is ARE YOU SURE there is a fit for you?
You may want to think about that as well. How that simple question can set you apart for the desperate to sign anybody into their “opportunity” stereotypes that our profession is often lumped into. Then YOU like I, can help dispel the myth of Network Marketing as unethical used car salesman and Pyramids.
Speaking of Pyramids- here in my own words is something I got from Tim Sales that is a simple concept tool to use in showing people about the pay structure of Network Marketing that defuses the other black cloud that hangs over our businesses, that we are some kind of pyramid scheme. In Brilliant Compensation he explains that all big brick and mortar corporations are based on a Pyramid foundation model and the CEO’s income is leveraged by the effort of all of the people below him, it does not matter if he hired them, trained them or not just by the fact that he is at the top he both earns the majority of the money at the top of the pyramid and is rewarded for all the efforts of the people below him. No one else in the company can make what he does. Or ever has the ability by their own effort to surpass his salary as long as he sits at the top
OUR industry foundation model is called Network Marketing for a reason. Because in Network Marketing each individual is given the opportunity to earn on multiple levels just like the CEO does Network Marketing is not set in a pyramid marketing structure, neither is our pay base. As we can earn more than our entire up line combined, more than what our sponsor makes or any team member, each of us can on any level. We are not a Pyramid, we are business owners paid by our own labor and by that of those we work with, we all are. You wish learn more about this I suggest Tim’s DVD it is really educational.
And another technique I embrace is Michael Oliver’s Natural Selling more good use of your time in first self educating and then paying it forward two things I swear by.
Michael teaches you to ask Question and Listen. I have peppered my blog with this style of marketing especially in post like NEVER Face Rejection Again- In Network Marketing
The more you can solve problems once they are uncovered by asking questions, listening to the answers and if you see a need provide possible answers that educate. The easier you will find it is to bring people into your business that will both know what they are getting into as well as will be motivated to do the business.
Time spent learning all you can about this industry as well as everything about your own company and where to share that information with interested parties, will make you a better problem solver. So spend the time getting to know the layout if your own company web page help area and information they provide in order to help others decide if they see a fit as well.
While you are researching how to help others with the products and services you will also be critiquing the fit of your company for you and the objectives you have laid out and the timeline you follow for realistic goals to see if you have chosen wisely. It is better to start over afresh and well informed and feeling that you are really connected with the company message and how they work and how you will promote the products and services and grow your business, then flounder in stagnate waters and have no idea why you are not taking the steps needed to succeed.
Of course it is far better to learn this before you join or invest in a company, but is a valuable conclusion to reach no matter when you come to it, as then you can regroup and decide what you want to do and where you wish to go now.
So here are some things you may want to ask yourself about the company you are researching, or our profession in general if you are in the early stage of checking out Network Marketing or about the company you are currently with, if you have been unable to grow the business and interest in what your provide.
1. Really examine the fit for yourself
and also the effort you have put into it, or are willing to put into it.
Be honest with yourself.
2. Does the company mantra/mission
statement fit with your values and ideals?
If you do not share their vision and their passion, Why? Is there really a
fit?
3. Comfort level with how the
company conducts business and how they want you to represent them.
What is the reputation of your company, how are they seen. Do your ethics
and selling styles match?
4. The pay schedule and structure
that the company uses, does it work for you? Compare other companies to yours
Can you make the money you want by the actions that will be required? Do the
legs/levels involved and the ranks/promotions fit with what you want in a
company?
5. Products and services do YOU BELIEVE
in them?
Do you use them? Do you have a passion for what they do or provide?
Those 5 questions above and you might also want to make a list of your own, are good places to start with evaluating a company’s fit for you as well as can explain your lack of Action or willingness to move forward. Or being filled with a passion and ready to go! The first one may be trying to force a fit the other may be just what you have been looking for. Or reaffirms this is the place for you! But in order to find out you need to do a little soul searching and company research then be really honest with yourself when checking for fit in Network Marketing.
