Hi everyone, looks like the Mayan’s calendar only predicted an end to their calendar and so on we go,  I did not do a blog post Christmas, or New Years Eve. As that was a time for family.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year!

And Santa brought you everything you wanted under the tree, but more importantly I wish for you to reach your goals and obtain your dreams this year.

And it’s 2013! so since we are still here, no mass extinction or Mayan prophesy played out but just December 22 came around as she always has, that means we keep on moving forward-both the believers in such prophesy and the non believers, and for us the Dreamers it means we just start another year ready to go out and make this the best one thus far in our businesses and our lives.

So our first post of 2013 will be about Resolutions. Many people make them every year and most break them before the year is even half way thorough. The discipline that making a choice to start something positive or stop something negative or just improve yourself and see it through is sound, and a good habit to form, but the pressure that Resolutions can put upon you is often too stressful for people to stick with.

And I am not asking you to make, or keep any. I am just going to recommend some little exercises for you to set small goals, reward, set small goals reward, as you work your way to what you really want this year.

So as I have shared in the past…

1. Get down in writing what are your goals, a New Years goal list is a great idea every year and keeps you focused.

2. Be realistic in setting how you want to move through the list at what pace you are wishing to go and in the order each one is to be met.

3. Meet goals by the easiest to achieve, not the most important unless you are sure you will be able to reach that goal in the time you set.

We do this so that we WILL meet each one and you can self reward when that happens. As your little rewards WILL motivate you as well as give you the confidence to move through your list as your goals get bigger and more important.

4. When you are getting ready to write your list, go over in your head the things you want to achieve this year, see yourself already living them.

5. Now put down those wishes and dreams, but also make little side notes underneath each item as to HOW you intend to make these goals a reality.

6. Make your list short, so you are not overwhelmed. You can always add to your list as you check them off.

7. Write your goals in color and bold, and your notes in black and smaller. I use blue for goals but you use whatever color you want.

8. Write your goals on the computer do not delete as they are met just change the color, I use red for goals met.

This will inspire you! It also allows you to see what your progress is and for myself a list of bold red must do’s and things I want to achieve or goals I want to reach motivates me to add more important goals, and to meet them.

Example: My goal may be simple, organize my work space and find my various projects, but once I do I am more likely to want to work on something, once I start to work I am more likely to start a new project or get into one that I have been putting off as it was buried- each little milestone you reach should be a stop and reward yourself as you have earned this by meeting your goals. And only you decide what those are and how many and what you deserve for each.

9.  Set an amount of time to reach each of your goals. You can allot additional time for larger goals, it is up to you, but you will better reach them if you are more structured in how long you spend on realizing each one.

10. Be realistic with yourself. But also if you are new to this to tip the odds in your favor for meeting that first one in your time frame by making it a pretty easy one to reach, and then set up your reward. WHAT do you want? What should you give/do for yourself for accomplishing this goal? Now move onto the next goal scenario that will carry you through your list.

Remember it is your list so if you want to rearrange it that is your choice but if you spend the time deciding on the goals you want daily, weekly monthly or yearly and what they are ahead of time you are more likely to meet them in the original way you laid them out. But things happen that can cause you to need to rearrange or even rethink that is why small short list (I like weekly) seem to run smoother than projecting what I will have achieved by next December

And remember to visualize your list complete, before you ever start on one item you listed. :)
