You’re FIRED!!!!! Or is he?

Today I want to end the week a bit off topic, or is it?

With the attacks on Capitalism all week and now the buzz that Donald Trump’s company is in trouble- there is talk of a merger with Tom Mower of Sisel International.  So that brought a few things that are going on to mind.

Though we watched Donald face bankruptcy 4 times and rebuilding and rebranding back to success- times are hard and name alone cannot keep you afloat. However To quote The Donald’ “Anyone who thinks my story is anywhere near over is sadly mistaken”. So don’t count him out.

So You’re FIRED!!!!! Or is he? Time will tell but

Add to that an Icon like Eastman Kodak filing bankruptcy after 131 years. “On Jan 7th  when shares went from .60 to .47 on the rumors (reports) of a bankruptcy coming” and they stopped selling some types of film 2 years ago. Ironic that they are the one that invented the digital camera in 1975 but did not see a demand for it so failed to enter that market until 2001.

Pretty sad when Sears is closing stores as is K Mart, Yahoo is in danger of a takeover. So many old standards and even pioneers in the technology age are going by the wayside

But when you think back to bygone days and companies like Packard 1899-1958, Studebaker 1902-1966, Montgomery Wards 1872-2001 (though Wards.com went online to take advantage of the Internet boom!). And more brick and mortars are all gone as well. That is the way of the word and how Capitalism works places many of use grew up with stores like the old Woolworth 1878-1997, Borders Books 1971-2011 “mostly unset by Amazon it’s marketing partner launching it’s own sales site in 2008”  gone. We know even long time staples can fold, but someone always pops up to take their place- and some clever ones like Wards repackage and find a new niche.

But each failure or can’t keep up leaves a place for the best to step into. That should be your goal to fill those vacancies as we revamp the way we do business and  for customers in how they find companies they want to patronize.

I truly believe in that Shinning City on the Hill- that is not a political statement that is a ain’t this country grand and even more so how lucky we are to live here fact. The huge opportunity that living in this country affords us. But while I do not think our best days are behind us and truly believe American ingenuity is alive and well. I also understand that success is not a given but it is our right to try, to attain any goal we can devise. But in order to pull a star from the sky we must first look up, and then reach for it.
