WARNING there is a right way and a WRONG way to build your team
If Aunt Martha signs up for your “opportunity” because she loves you or she just got tired of hiding from you behind the fern at family gatherings- your team will stop right then and there. It will become a dead zone, where you placed her. You will lose every person who could have joined under her, brought in by her as she will NOT tell a single soul, nor does she have any idea what she just joined, not really.
Only exception is if you want to grow your team under Aunt Martha is for you to do the work. “Team building within a Team”- Extra work you may not want to heap upon yourself.
So I have no idea why when you join into our industry the mantra is- make a list of friends and family????
I mean can you imagine having a company and you need to fill the positions? You know you require people who will
1. Know what they are to be doing
And
2. Know how to do it.
So should you hire all the “can’t get a jobs, have no skills” people you know?
In order for you to be able to even do business, let alone grow it to be successful. The answer should be a resounding NO!
Would Sears spot a guy just waking by their building and then give chase until they could run him down and snatch the back of his coat and drag him into the store? Then pluck him behind the counter and leave him to greet customers and store patrons, with no retail experience no idea what he was to do? Instead he sits frozen like a deer in the headlights at the thought of dealing with the public. As he never asked for this job, and he has NO idea what to do in it! Nor does he want it!
Well neither did Aunt Martha.
If you want to be successful in this industry you cannot do it alone. You need first a sound program that fills a niche and serves a need, our latest is ilivingapp. And then you need people on your team who are as passionate and as on fire about what you are doing as you are! If not more so.
Ideally you should find your peers
network through the industry and talk to people who not only know what you are
talking about- no blank stairs there. But, who sit up and take interest ask
questions about comp plans and matrix sizes who not only know the industry, but
have built teams and have others under them who will also follow them to
additional revenue streams as they are recommended . That is what you are
looking for when you team build- WELL in a perfect world ![]()
But that is what so many struggle with in Network Marketing. Where are those great net-workers?
Actually they are everywhere; Online they are with you on social media, they are with you in forums and networking sources.
Off line, one great group for local networking and building connections that is getting a foot hold in most states is I Take The Lead. Might want to check it out :). But online or off your peers may not know who you are, or you them.
How do I get them to look at my business or opportunity?
Same way you do everything else, you work at it, you talk to people and you build relationships you comment on their blogs you trade business cards. You recommend them to others in their industry and you develop a small niche of peers whom you interact with.
When your peers become your friends they will start to repay the favors they will also recommend your programs/business to others. Say, you have been chatting and sharing a marketer’s tweets and blogs, or met an befriended local net-workers, because you really like what they say and agree with how they do business- they may decide that they want something new to incorporate within their portfolio and or share with their followers. They may just blast your program out to their network and peers.
But if it is your program they are looking at joining and they like and trust you they are, coming onto your team as we tend you join who we know and feel comfortable with. This can take time, and it does not mean to pull down your capture pages or not let people sign up who are not Super Star team builders or worker bees.
But, it sure helps if you have more active members than Aunt Marthas, or the waiting to be filled ups you talked into your business, because you told them they do not have to sponsor anyone to join. So they did. And they won’t. Because they are NOT marketers and have no desire to be. You sold them on the idea of a free lunch, and that is what they are expecting.
And it is true in most companies you can just work three times as hard and fill the forced matrix all on your own or grow your down line and EVERYONE else’s at the same time- up to you. But WHY would you want all that added work? To really grow a solid team you need a foundation of people who know how to build teams. And people who are WILLING to learn if they haven’t before.
WARNING there is a right way and a WRONG way to build your team
But I’m not heartless, so I am not telling you to completely forget about putting people you care about in your down line because you want to help them out financially, And are willing to Team build within your Team to grow non marketers down lines and fill their part of the matrix as well.
Anymore more than I would tell you it was wrong to find a place in your brick and mortar IF you can afford to, so your Aunt can have a little security because you want to help out.
What I am saying is, if you do not have more worker bees than Aunts in your company you will not be able to benefit the people you want to take care of, or yourself. And your business will never get off the ground.
