What did you do for Mom on Sunday?
Let me know how you spent your mom’s special day. Mine was spent long distance
as she is in San Diego CA. and us in Vancouver WA.
But gifts were sent flowers ordered and a call was made, as some of you know my mom was released from the hospital with terminal lung cancer and told to go home and die. We are addressing her condition holistically and with God’s help I hope we can if not stop it, at least we can increase the value to the quality of her life that she has left.
But this post is not about me or my mom, but yours and what she did for you that brought you to the person you are today.
And the importance of that, that we all bring to our own families and I think the fact that you work so hard and give so much to find that financial freedom that will allow you more time with your family and to create a more secure lifestyle for those you love and who depend on you, is a direct effect of the good parenting you received. The values that she imparted unto you and the strong character that developed which allowed you to have the convictions to buck the system and strike out on your own. I today take my hat off to you. For you are the pioneers of the modern age.
Those who choose to have their own business are like the early Western homesteader that had the vision to want better and the determination to have it. And the guts to walk away from the more comfy life they knew back East, to strike out into the unknown for no more than a promise.
Entrepreneurs still do just that. The Western drive that call to the wild that entitlement, of if we just work a little harder is still born in all of us who dare to want better who walk away from the certainty of a paycheck for the what ifs of the dream. And some of you will leave a footprint in history with your small business, that will grow over time.
Just like those early pioneers did with their own; daring to not just try but, to do. And they changed the West and had an influence on America far greater than their Easterner cousins who’s family stayed behind so never saw the endless miles of open plains and said I will make a home here. That speaks in itself to the power of some peoples drive and the lasting legacy of their dream for those who came to the West.
And in all of us who dare to dream, who’s mom tells you that you can be, and have, and do anything and then you do. So rightfully we owe everything that is inside all of us that makes us refuse to give in, refuse to give up, to forgo the easy way in favor of living up to what she told us was possible, to our mom’s. And you will share that same example with your own kids to pass on the soul of the Entrepreneur that is the small business owner’s spirit.
I send out a big thanks mom, to mine. How about you?
And for those of you who are still looking, but also carry those same words of encouragement and all the son/sis/honey/sweetheart or whatever your mom’s pet name was for you. Who can still hear her soft words of “you can do anything and I believe in you”. For those of you who want more, and to never settle but, you have yet to find what you are looking for.
Remember:
1. Find your fit, so do your research.
2. Be willing to put in the work, at least a year more likely have 2-4 year plan.
3. Find your passion so you will be willing to not give up and pay whatever price it is to reach each goal you set for yourself- that will help you realize the dream.
4 Remember why you are doing this. And also keep time in your plan for those people, as well as yourself. So work when you work but, also play when you play!
5. Be informed: Know what you are doing, learn about your company, your trade, can’t ask others to join you if you cannot explain to them what you do.
6. Be grateful!!!!!!
7. Listen, be open minded as nothing enters a closed one.
8. Be flexible, but also stay true to your convictions.
9. Always be realistic, but also NEVER stop dreaming!
10. Keep you eye on that dream, do not listen to the naysayer, but also take to heart advice from those you respect and admire who have already succeeded.
And if you would like help in finding what you are looking for. I do this blog to help people succeed in their current businesses and recommend additional ways in which you can have greater success.
