You Don’t Have to Be a Rocket Scientist to figure this out

I want to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and prayers for my mom; we are still waiting on the biopsy to be scheduled. I almost asked  Chery Schmidt to do this week’s blog post:)  but, since I got so many questions on Niche verses target Marketing from you guys I sucked it up and pulled myself right around to clarify for you, especially the newbie’s. You Don’t Have to Be a Rocket Scientist to figure this out.

The difference in Target and Niche Marketing

It is quite simple your broad Market is people who are interested in your type of industry consume those products use the services provided etc. Example using the diet industry, someone looking to lose weight and get in shape is looking for your industry if you are a Visalus distributor. BUT that does not mean they are looking for your company’s products or you. They could be interested in another company or another distributor. But they are still located inside your Market.

Your Target Market customer base are those people who are either unsure what they are looking for in the diet industry, or that are looking for Visalus, but have not found a sponsor. As well as anyone with a weight issue or wanting to improve their health an fitness.  You can move your broad Market to your Target Market by the conversations you have- see last blog post IMPORTANT News Cold Marketing is Dead!

As a business opportunity Your Target Market is also Personal trainers, people in the fitness world, athletes, retirees on a fixed pension, boomers approaching retirement, stay at home moms wanting to help out their household, college students, as well as people looking for extra income.

You can use demographics, age, sex, interest race, income levels, family status, education, occupation, home ownership, and other characteristics to gauge if there is an industry/opportunity fit.

To find your Niche Market you need to uncover a need, and then see if yours is the solution within your industry

Besides a business coach, and Author I am also a retired famous Labrador show breeder and I always use that to define what is a Niche. See I was not looking for people who just wanted a puppy, to place my babies with. I wanted people who were wanting to add a Labrador puppy to their family and though most of my puppies went to pet homes, I was really looking for people who both fit what I wanted in the families I chose for my puppies and who wanted a Lab puppy to in the future, show thereby promoting my own kennel and forwarding my traits and temperaments in the breed. That was my narrowed down Niche and I did my interviewing in that Niche, i.e type of homes I screened for, narrowed down to my ideal i.e, fit my screening criteria and wanted a Lab puppy that would be a future show dog.

In Network Marketing you are looking for the same people as in the two combined above Marketing strategies (your broad Market and Target Market). You want them to choose to purchase your products and services, not your competitors. And you achieve that by Relationship Building with potential customers.

You also want some of them to join your business and you want to interview those people, to assess fit and compatibility. Because whom we will partner with in business is more hands on for us than is whom we may have as a customer base.

You need to team build with people who will help both you, and they succeed. So you narrow down to your Niche as tight as needed to build your teams and grow your business. Your goal would be the center of the bull’s eye for optimum results and use of time and resources in which to locate them.

Then to get your Niche on board you need to satisfy their needs, provide opportunities build trust and loyalty. If you make people feel special, feel listened to and secure in doing business with you, you can tumble giants and drive people to you from even the largest sitting companies that fail to understand the importance of Relationship Building!

The more specialized, specific or unique your products the smaller your Niche.

So no mass Marketing- do not try selling hair tonic to a bald man- know your Target Audience focus your attention on your smaller market then narrow your Niche down to better service your customers and yourself.
