IMPORTANT News Cold Marketing is Dead!

Thanks you so much Chery Schmidt for guest blogging. I love your upbeat and positive style and Chery because of that, when you told me you were attending a Cold Marketing Seminar is why I wanted to talk to you about WHY you wanted to Cold Market?

What I was really getting at is Cold Marketing is Dead!

Cold Marketing in our profession is really a non term now. It is an old school technique that involved the contact of strangers or even people you may causally know of but, who you had no idea of their wants or needs.

Like the old rinse an repeat of making 300 calls a day from a name list and pitch them then hope that there will be some yes’s that if you can just get through the no’s keep going Atta boy you can do it Marketing style. Keep a stiff upper lip and do not take it personally shrug off the rejections revise your scripts and keep plowing on grind, Cold Marketing belongs to yesterday.

IMPORTANT News Cold Marketing is Dead!

Cold Marketing is GONE!  It has evolved as has our Industry. It now has many names, but it no longer starts with a blind push and a pitch. How we represent ourselves and what we do begins the same way we would represent ourselves in our daily lives we build relationships through conversations. Because in this day and age IF You are not still (if ever) hounding strangers or chasing friends with your latest shinny or great new idea. But instead have changed your mindset to the building of relationships.

You are NOT Cold Marketing that is Relationship Marketing. We spend the time to connect, to ask, to discern, I write about this in “NEVER Face Rejection Again- In Network Marketing

As well as other post and articles and my Ebook The Principles of Natural Marketing  you get for joining my Call to Action Team.

Whether you know them or not- You are talking to people. NOT leads, NOT Prospects!!!! Nor just names on a list.

Do not make building your teams or locating people to invite on board your business a hard task on you, or them.

Make it a win win and then pay that forward :)

Get to know the people you speak with and see if they are looking at all. Get rid of the term Cold anything and even your Warm Market that is people you know well enough to not have to do a lot of probing to uncover their possible interest but, friends and family are not going to be want to be pitched either So DON’T!

Treat everyone with the same respect and kindness you want back. Ask questions and listen to the answers and NEVER appear too eager to share, nor invite everyone you know or talk to. Instead, like we ourselves do interview and find if there is a match in wants as well as work ethics and values add to your teams and grow your business with like minded people. You will find them by talking to people not Cold Marketing.

You may ask is that not the same thing, if I ask a stranger a question that leads to me thinking I can bring them value by what I do? NO, no it is not- as when you Cold Market you start the conversation trying to find a way to work your “opportunity” into it and you ARE looking for an opening even if you do not know it. And you will find one even if one is not really there or if it is not the right time to, you will bring up a solution that may have been well received later on, but you were too busy trying to find a time to bring it up so you instead closed down the conversation, because you went into it in Cold Marketing mode.

Take the word Cold and Marketing out of every conversation online, on the phone in person, be it a stranger to a long lost friend or family member. Instead VISIT with them. LISTEN to them and maybe never mention what you have to offer at all in the first conversation, maybe not ever.

But what you do is develop important skills and hone your ability to read people and with that you can learn IF you can help them and even more importantly IF they want to be helped.

And should there be an interest, then when is the right time to interject your solution.

I have done various blogs and written on these topics since the 90’s as well as on Target and Niche Marketing which is just a narrowing down to a tighter group of people who may wish to learn about your business or products. Your goal is to reach your Niche and you find them though the conversations you have.

I may like you, I may grow a relationship with you, and I may think you and I would be a great fit professionally, so I rush to get you involved. What is wrong with that decision? Anyone? Well my Call to Action Team should know. IT IS NOT ABOUT ME!

We all know people who WE could help IF they would do what WE  told them to. BUT like our selves people want to make their own decisions, even if it takes em off a cliff or in direction that would not be as great as IF they followed you. But we cannot change that.

What we can do is talk to them and find if there is a common need goal desire want, and build on that. IF they want to and are open to it.

However I may still not want them on my team, even if they wanted to be. But the way to find if it is a REAL fit and to locate those lasting matches that will grow your business and will help you help each other and better all of your lives is to make the wise choices BEFORE you jump on the ones that may cause you the headaches of attrition and the lay abouts who do nothing, because you failed to quality them.

You learn who a person is by talking to them, it is one of our greatest marketing tools we have- use it. But not as a marketing tool but, as a relationship builder
